The Badger Clan

This section made me laugh. The Badger are a bunch of goofy, macho guys who were told to hang around in northern Rokugan and fight anyone who tried to invade. And in a thousand years, no one has. The write-up makes the entire clan sound like transplanted gamers or a bunch of meat-eating jocks who always use "the largest weapon [they] can effectively use," and "gain status by wielding a large weapon effectively." But the summary does acknowledge that these guys have a well-deserved reputation as dumb brutes, so it was easy to forgive much of the writing's rather simple approach.

The School is relatively well-designed if you consider that the Badger bushi have never had to test it against real opponents. The Rank 3 technique is the same as the Akodo School's Rank 1, but less versatile, and while the Rank 1 sacrifice of Initiative for power makes sense in theory, any Badger dumb enough to let the enemy strike first will realize the mistake when his head hits the floor.
